It is a combination of the words prot, meaning first, and ious, or, a given quality. i.e. first quality. Protious is owned and operated by Dan Wallenmeyer. Dan graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Management specializing in Web Development. His interest in programming dates back to the Commodor 64 era (Apple II was out of reach $$). Dan studied numerous programming languages in the 80′s and 90′s beginning with BASIC. His training branched out to Pascal, C, and Java in the early days then continued further into HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, Visual Basic, ASP.NET, and SQL. While Dan worked hard to culture his Web Development skills, as evidenced by his 3.9 GPA, he eventually realized his passion tended toward Web Design.

Dan gradually came to this realization when he began working on intranet based projects for Intel Corporation where he has been proudly employed since 1997. He picked up FrontPage and PhotoShop in the late 90′s and discovered the thrill of creating successful designs for his work groups. Dan loved the power of imagery and how it meshed perfectly with his mind’s eye and FrontPage and PhotoShop gave him the ability to put his conceptions to work in the business world. His visions could now become reality and his thirst to create eye popping sites became a driving force in his designs. Years passed and little by little Dan evolved into a Web Designer who knows how to effectively integrate Photoshop, DreamWeaver, Premier, Fireworks, and a touch of Flash into his workflow. He also has a deep interest in understanding technological trends believing this is what gives him his edge.
But times change and designers who do not can get lost in the shuffle. Dan recognizes the need to rapidly create sites customers have more control over. In comes WordPress. WordPress, and applications like it, allow Dan to design sites modern day, web savvy, customers expect. Mobility, social media integration, security and the ability for a client to easily update their own web site.
